We are Chosen...

Each Sunday I take away something from worship that I want to stick with me. Sometimes it does and other times, life takes over.
Yesterday's worship gelled like no other, so I'd like to share.

Our text is Ephesians1: 3-14
vs. 4 For He chose us in Him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in His sight. In love He predestined us to be adopted as His sons through Jesus Christ , in accordance with His will and pleasure.

These two highlighted parts are rarely on my mind, but in yesterdays worship (the unplanned part) they showed up loud and clear.

As we sang "Revive us Again" I think back to little Lana picking that song every time we visited Marc's home church and her Uncle Craig would ask for song request.... chosen for His pleasure.

The older building next door, is now the Spanish Church. As we left to go to our Bible Class, there stood about 15 members from their church with signs "Free Hugs Here"...chosen for His pleasure.

In Bible Class we talked about loving others beyond the name on the building where they worship...chosen for His pleasure.

An invitation was extended to a Community Church with an outdoor baptistery , to use ours.
Six people were baptized*, five of them were homeless....chosen for His pleasure.

Next to our old building, the Spanish Church, sits a row of old portables classrooms, now known as Matthews Hope, a place for the homeless, run by 6 different churches in Winter Garden...chosen for His pleasure.

I have to say it's hard to see what pleasure God finds in me, but so thankful to be among others and see it come to life. It was a great day that I want to learn from and do differently.

* So as C. of C. members, we were clapping after the person was immersed, only to see that they were immersed 3 times, baptized into the Father, The Son and the Holy Spirit....covered in all.

You know when a comment is made about "if a homeless person was to walk into your building what would you do?" It really happens on a regular basis now at West Orange.
