Hands Down

Hands Down

Another sweet birthday with lots of love and good wishes.
Watching Morgandy sing "Supercalifragalistic" to her brother.
Telling Morgandy that Bretton was coming to say good morning to her ,
"But Grams, he is a baby and he can't talk."
It's close to a perfect day, just need all my kids
gathered in the same nest for perfection.

I have had lots of great b-day gifts and memories.
But the picture below tops all, hands down.
On my 4th b-day, I got a plastic fishing pole and a baby brother.
Darby is someone that blesses people day by day.
When Alex was in 4th grade, he told me he hoped
to grow up and be like Uncle Darby.
I then knew that my young man was on the right course.

John Darby, I love you and yes you are the greatest gift,
hands down.

Tis the season!

Leaving Houston didn't mean leaving the Astro's. We get to see plenty of Spring Training games. It is not the same as going to Minutemaid Park. But we still get to sing Deep in the Heart of Texas during the 7th inning stretch. That helps make us feel at home.

Todays game had 2 distractions.

It was so exciting to see the whole stadium stand as Pres George H W Bush and First Lady Barbara came to see the game. He was so gracious to many around him, and 95% of people remained standing until he was seated.
We see them often at games in Houston, but this was different. The respect of the crowd was so special, in this smaller setting.

The other distraction haunts me. I just happened to notice a young boy (maybe 10) sitting in front of me. He held a sample size of Purell Hand cleaner. He kept opening the lid and playing like it was a microphone, then I noticed that he was sniffing it. Later he put some on his sleeve and would sniff it. It was so disturbing! He was acting very strange, maybe autistic, but quickly but the bottle away when his older brother took notice.

I have googled it and found that the 2 oz bottle of Purell has 62% alcohol in it and the equivalent to 4 shots of Vodka.

Even though the game ended with a comeback win by the Astro's, I walked away with guilt of a young boy, and a small bottle of hand cleaner. Wish I hadn't walked away!
